America’s Poison Centers represents 54 Poison Centers across the country, we are united in our cause to prevent every poison and toxin-related health emergency in America. We provide all Americans expert advice from nationally accredited medical specialists, and maintain the nation’s only near real-time poisoning data surveillance system. Together, America’s Poison Centers ensure a national quality standard for the detection, prevention and treatment of toxin-related health emergencies.

As overseen by a Board of Directors elected from the membership, America's Poison Centers:

Provides accreditation for the nation's 55 Poison Centers
Certify Poison Center staff and provides continuing education opportunities
Complements the efforts of Poison Centers in preventing poisonings and promoting the use Poison Center services
Conducts Webinars that provide Continuing Education Credits through Amedco, LLC.

Owns and maintains the National Poison Data System (NPDS)
Produces annual reports on poison data and provides custom data reports from NPDS
Operates PoisonHelp.org, an online poison exposure triage tool designed to assist users who are uncomfortable with speaking on the phone.

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS

Works with Congress and federal agencies to drive statutory, regulatory, and voluntary standards changes to positively impact public health and safety
Conduct toxicosurveillance in collaboration with federal agencies
Works with the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) on matters pertaining to the national Poison Help line: 1-800-222-1222

MEDIA & PARTNERSHIPS

Provides the media access to an extensive network of toxicologists who specialize in a variety of subject matters
Oversees national partnerships related to poison prevention education
Co-hosts the North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology, the leading national event on toxicology issues and topics
Partners with the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and European Association of Poisons Centres and Clinical Toxicologists to issue the associations’ official journal: Clinical Toxicology
